  1. It goes against the rescue contract to continue to race a retired greyhound. There's a reason she's an ex-racer and not a current one. No reputable rescue organization will adopt one to you if you had the intentions to continue to race her
  2. I would agree that there must be a reason why she is an ex-racer, but if she belonged to a highly competetive kennel then it could be that she just didn't make the mark. However you must make sure that it wasn't through injury anyway. I agree that if you got her through a rescue then I would assume they would insist she wasn't raced again. I do not know about the protocol of racing but I do have a friend who does. Why don't you google the question and I think you would get more sites to find out stuff than on here. I would of thought you would need to belong to a licenced kennel in order to race but I can't be sure.
  3. if your looking for hobby amateur, racing look at these two organizations www.lgra.org http://www.notraracing.org/ for the pro stuff you must have NGA papers -the amateur needs Akc papers Lgra will take an ILP number and I can't find if they'll take NGA paper (bet they do) there is also sight hound field trials (lure coursing) www.asfa.org www.akc.org/events/lure_coursing/index.cfm once again you would do well to get the papers for these but both will accept an AkC ILP (apply with akc sending in pics & proof of neutering) with all these yes you NEED a sound dog that will not cause trouble with the other dogs - but, espcially the lure coursing, speed is only one componant so a mediocre speed dog can do well
  4. My immediate thought too was why she is an ex-racer. Obviously she didn't come up to scratch, and even if you can get her back into racing, you'd probably not stand a cats chance in.... of getting anywhere with her. Why don't you go to a few races, and ask questions. For sure, if you got her from a Greyhound Rescue, you will be contravening their rules and regs. if you put her back racing.
  5. Don't worry about racing her. You've got one of the best pets in the world. Just enjoy her for the great companion that she is.
