What would happen if i were to cross breed these dogs?
What would happen if i were to cross breed a solid black GSD with a solid white GSD and also what would happen if i crossbred a GSD with a lab or a golden retreiver? would it be possible to get the webbed feet or a water proof coat on a GSD?

- You would get a worthless mutt. You can't expect anything from a mutt, they are unpredictable...you could get the GSD,s coat, the Goldens coat or a mix of both coats. If you want to see some of these mixs get up and go to your local shelter, German Shep's and Golden Labs are 2 of the most common dogs found in shelters. Take a look at some available at http://www.petfinder.com or http://www.adoptapet.com Here is one in a shelter in http://karen.dev.petfinder.com/petdetail/14279172?recno=0my area..and just one of the millions up for adoption:
- For the first pairing, you'd get a mix of coats- not fifty fifty, you may get all black or all white litters, or a mix of the both. For the second one, you'd get a mutt. What you'd get is TOTALLY unpredictable and you'd be unlikely to get the desired traits you want. It would take YEARS of skillfull, knowledge breeding to get both those sure traits, not just one mutty litter.
- You would get a mutt. But puppies can get traits from either their mother and father.
- Answer to question #1 - Depends on the coat colors in the pedigree. However, considering that most white GSDs are poorly bred and have no genetic testing behind them, why would you bother? Answer to question #2 - Go to your local shelter. They're PACKED with Lab x GSD mixes, who are killed for being too big, too black, too common. Again, why would you do it on purpose? Would you get a GSD with a Lab coat and webbed feet? No. Genetics doesn't work that way. There is no predicting what you'd get.
- you would have to look at the pedigree of both dogs you are breeding. if the white dog's parents were both white, and all of the puppies in that litter came out white, the white dog you want to breed will pass on the white dominant trait. if the black dog's parents were one white and one black and the puppies came out mostly white, the white trait is dominant. therefore, the two dogs you want to breed (black GSD and white GSD) their puppies will turn out mostly/all white because white was the dominant trait. you can only know any of this if you look at both dogs' pedigrees. but also, labrador retriever puppies can come out in any color. their color is determined primarily by two genes. the first gene (B) locus determines the density of the coat's pigment granules. dense granules result in a black coat, sparse ones give a chocolate coat. the second (D) locus determines whether the pigment is produced at all. a dog with the recessive d allele will produce little pigment and will be yellow regardless of its genotype at the B locus.
- For the black GSD && the white GSD You will NOT have MUTTS!! Becuse they're the same breed just different coats. Since the male is dominant you will end up with the majority of puppies being the males color. Their maybe 1 or with a mixture or that takes the coat color of the mother. And if you crossbreed a GSD with a lab you will have a mutt, but crossbreeds are in now! It will compact the playful, strong, water proof coat, && swimming grace of a lab with the alert, powerful nose, && protectiveness of a GSD! I hopped I helped!
