Cross Breeds

We have 9 dogs, six of them being small. Why is it when one gets hurt the others attack it?

When Das Pigg, small dog, tried to get out of the fence she got her head hung. Three of the other small dogs attacked her. In another instance a heavy railing fell on Little Bit breaking the skin on her hind leg she was attacked.

  1. its illegal to have more than three dogs plus because they have a chance to kill it because its practiclly disabled { SMILE JESUS LOVES YOU }
  2. Well, simple answer - dogs are cannibals. Cannibals eat their own species, and they usually try and go for the weakest ones. That's why when one of the little ones get injured, the other ones attack it. I would be extra careful and keep an eye on the little ones otherwise they might get eaten. Hope this helps :)
  3. when a wolf in a pack gets sick or limp they kill it for the sake of the pack. Only the strong survive
  4. This is the way of many dogs that live in groups or packs. The dog that screams has the potential to be attacked by the rest of the pack.
  5. It's natural instinct in a pack to eliminate weak members. That's why sometimes injured or senior or sick dogs get attacked. How badly dogs "pack" is very dependent on breed and individuals in the pack but all dogs carry the instinct. As soon as one high-prey dog attacks, it becomes a mob mentality and they all join in. Ice and Eva are the 2 dogs that are most likely to lead an attack in my pack, which is why nthey can only be with the seniors and small dog when everyone is in the house or I am outside. Otherwise Ice and Eva have their own secure yard and the seniors have a different yard. Additional Info: Dog limits and requirements for kennel licensing range greatly with where you live. Nor are dogs cannibals unless starved but many have high prey drive and they will kill weaker pack members as well as dogs not belonging to their pack.
  6. The pack answer is correct - and how do you prevent this? Well, having less than 9 dogs is a good place to start... Basic training will also go a long way. Along with the pack mentality comes the urge to protect, so your dogs really SHOULDN'T be attacking each other, but they do because they don't know better.
  7. whoa, that sounds....not good bro i have no clue what the right answer would be, but i dont thunk thats normal. my dog would never attack another dog, whether its hurt or not. sorry.
