- Just like ay horse or pony, the first thing is no conformational faults. No turned legs, thin necks etc. With Minis you need to remember to also look for "Dwarfism" due to the smaller breeding. Here is a few with bad conformation. This one has a thick neck, and looks downhill. http://www.miniatureventures.com/miniatureherd/moondust_jan12_2009.JPG I'm sure you can see the flaws in this guy: Long back, short legs etc. http://www.flickr.com/photos/florador/3416647396/ This one has nice conformation, and with grooming is probably show quality. http://www.dentranch.com/ROYALCHIEFFP.jpg
- Ideally they should look like a full size horse, in miniature: http://images.search.yahoo.com/images/view?back=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.search.yahoo.com%2Fsearch%2Fimages%3Fp%3Dshow%2Bquality%2Bminiature%2Bhorse%2Bimage%26ei%3Dutf-8%26y%3DSearch%26fr%3Dush-ans&w=418&h=374&imgurl=www.bearbranchranch.com%2FGraphics%2FBBShawneeOK.jpg&rurl=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bearbranchranch.com%2FText%2FShowRing.html&size=15k&name=BBShawneeOK+jpg&p=show+quality+miniature+horse+image&oid=a556b1bb4d0aae8c&fr2=&no=4&tt=333&sigr=11hng17s6&sigi=11g0ckcsk&sigb=13eo5htn7
- Literally a miniature horse. They should look like very small Arabians- dishy heads are preferred, no conformation faults, etc. If you took one and tripled its size you should be able to ride it comfortably without issue.
