how do you keep balloon animals from popping?

I need to know how to keep the long balloons from popping when i'm making animals out of them! please help, i keep popping them...and i need to master them soon! thanks tons!

1. keep away from sharp objects, lights, and children! that is pretty much it....
2. Don't fill the balloons up completely - leave a little of the uninflated part because as you tie knots into them, the air will redistribute evenly into the individual cells and not cause over-inflation and bursting.
3. Remove any rings and bracelets and if you have long nails, make sure they are not sharp.
