How often do race horses work out?

Do they include every recent workout in the racing form?

  1. when one horse crosses the line ......em.. it wins!! Hows that for ya?
  2. Regarding workouts, this depends on the trainer and what a particular horse needs, all horses are different, some need more/frequent workouts, while other horses need their workouts spread out. Some trainers feel working out a horse often keeps the horse motivated..so, again really it depends on trainer and horse. Regarding workouts in form..the answer to this is.. usually they do have all recent workouts(along the bottom) DRF is great for this....but honestly, the last 3 or 4 workouts is the most important to look at overall. If you're looking for derby past performances and workouts, it's best to wait for the special DRF Derby form to come out..that should have everything you need. You, also, can visit the link below for all sorts of derby info..including past performances of contenders..keep in mind though, that the contenders may change as we get closer to the actual race. Here's the link referred to in texted. http://www.drf.com/tc/kentuckyderby/2010/136.html Enjoy ! :)
  3. From my experience, it is a difficult question to answer. A horse fresh from grass, will be softly worked once a day, walking and trotting, To strengthen them and get rid of some grass fat. Where as a horse in the peak of it's fitness will be galloped/jumped, a minimum of once a day, on good gallops, likely swam, and put in the walker too. And usually they'll get a day or so's rest after a race day. They don't tend to put the recent workouts in the form, else the form would be enormous. The form is only for previous races, where the horses have been observed. The Racing authorities can't have people in all the stables all around the world. That would be an enormous amount of labour, or a lot of extra work on the trainers.
