- It was on recall. It had killed my Bernese Mountain Dog mix a few years ago.
- yes, it is a protest, and yes, unfortunatly, it is true. the animals are killed during testing, and/or of starvation in their cages. they need to find alternatives to testing new products, what a sad thing..
- I never heard about that. I normally buy puppy chow and dog show, but i heard iams was good and i was thinking about starting to get that but after hearing this and seeing that website im glad i never did. and now i never will. Thank you all so much.
- Iams test their products on Animals in a laboratory and therefore if you are against animal testing then you are right to protest. Furthermore all dried foods if just fed without a wet additive can seriously damage the insides of the dogs intestines and they bloat out. A well balanced diet is first and foremost. My dogs tried these ''special diet foods and were very ill'' so they had a diet of foods we gave them and from the local shops brands and when they passed away they were aged 15 and 17 years old. Golden Retrievers, who years before the average life age was 12 years.
- PETA has a hair up it's a** again. If PETA has it way, no one will be allowed to have pets - according to them, that's abuse and slavery. IamsCruelty.com is a PETA site - go see for yourself. I'm not sure I would feed the founf bag though - who knows what has been done to it. I am not siding with animal testing, but do you want to feed a food that HASN'T been tested ? Do we know how other brands test? It's the scare tactics I disagree with.
- Hello- I am in Consumer Relations at Iams. Unfortunately, there is highly inaccurate and misleading information circulating on the Internet regarding our feeding studies, and I’m glad you’ve given me the opportunity to provide you with the facts. We too are passionate about cats and dogs, with a deep commitment to their health and welfare. Posing as an animal lover, an activist "undercover investigator" was hired for an Iams-funded role in the contract facility. She had responsibility for the socialization and enrichment of the dogs participating in Iams' feeding studies, and was paid to develop and implement a program to ensure that these dogs were well cared for. Rather than focusing on her assignment she captured video not of the scenes of the socialization and enrichment activities she was being paid to develop and deliver, but of dogs and cats that were housed in the same facility but not a part of Iams studies. We do not fund studies that require the loss of life of cats or dogs. We conduct studies in just three kinds of locations: pet owners' homes, our Pet Health & Nutrition Center and locations where dogs and cats are already living (e.g. assistance dog organizations, kennels, etc). We test our foods with healthy pet cats or dogs in their homes or with pets who already have specific diseases or conditions. Further details regarding our feeding studies can be found at www.IamsTruth.com. We also recently invited bloggers to tour our Pet Health & Nutrition Center.
