  1. ok
  2. I'm not sure if you can have it custom made by the company, but they do sell kits where you can paint your own horse. You can get the kit (check online) and either paint it for your friend, or have someone do it for you.
  3. I am not sure, I would contact the company about that one...Do you know what kind of horse it is... They don't to my knowledge have a ton of different breeds to choose from but you might be able to find one off the shelf that looks pretty similar. It would be a nice keepsake for her to have maybe even with a poem about her horse. Sorry to hear the horse is being put down. I have a 25 yr old Quarter Horse and I dread the day he gets ill to be put down. Blessings
  4. You might be able to, but it would be very expensive. You can buy kits to paint a horse. I did this for my friends birthday, because we didn't know if her horse was going to make it. What I did is take a picture of her from every angle, so I could paint it easier. That might be a little harder for you...but if he is a solid or almost solid color, it should be easier. Good luck and sorry to hear about her horse. =[ **Edit: I found this on the Breyer website. I didn't see anything about custom models... http://www.breyerhorses.com/products/product.php?item=4114
  5. Breyer itself doesn't make custom models that I know of. There are however people who make customs from existing breyer models. Here's one site I found for someone who takes commissions for custom models: http://dragonridgestables.50megs.com/whats_new.html It's pretty expensive but keep in mind that there's a lot of work that goes into hand-painting something like that. You might want to search around some more though, maybe you can find some other options. Another thing you can do is paint one yourself. Breyer does sell a couple unpainted models that come with a paint set so that you can customize it yourself: http://www.breyerhorses.com/products/product.php?item=4115 http://www.breyerhorses.com/products/product.php?item=4114 (here's one that you can actually sculpt yourself) http://www.breyerhorses.com/products/product.php?item=4113 Whatever you choose will make a wonderful gift for your friend to remember her horse by. :)
  6. They have a kit that coem with paint and hair for the main. That is the closest you can get, andI think it would be a nice thing for you to do for your friend.
  7. I don't believe Breyer does it without it being pretty dang pricey but there are folks out there who do custom work on them. I have customized Breyers before and it's not too awful hard to do. infact Breyer makes a paint your own mold kit that teached step by step directiosn to shade and paint one in what ever color you want. Try googling custom breyer and see if it turns up any people who do the cutomization. However another idea is to take a pictur eof him to your local mall, there are kiosks in the mall that sell t-shirts and what not that have photos on them. Perhaps you could have his picture put on a shirt, ornament , purse , wallet, something liek that. It's not nearly as expensive as having a custom model horse done unless you cutomize it yourself:)
  8. Look under CM breyer in ebay. Those are the custom ones. Look and see if you find one similar to the horse in question. If not, they have sellers that do the work themselves and maybe you can contact one privately for that.
  9. I custom paint Breyer, Stone, and resin model horses. If you have good photos of both sides, plus hooves and white markings, a model is a great idea. I haven't updated my website in years, but some of my favorite stable mate size customs are on it. I can also put up some quick pics of my TB mare a Knabstruper I did last year. http://bluenotefarm.net/FS_CM.htm (my website sucks... hubby did it years again and I don't know how to update it or fix it up.. sorry!) The horses on the left are very old, the right newer SMs. (I love the tiny ones!) All the rest of my customs are long ago sold. There are hundreds of other people like me who do this. **edit** Here's my TB mare http://good-times.webshots.com/album/561832448ibaQuy I don't have photos yet of my latest appy and paint horses still in progress. If you have the breed, sex and a few photos of your friend's horse, i can see if there is a similar painted model already made by the company. The hard part is matching the white markings and patterns on a factory painted model. Appys and pintos are not possible to match, and very hard to paint. I spent two weeks in the hospital with my pastels doing a Knabstruper model, 2" tall in a black leopard appy. Magnifying glass a must! I use 3-10 base acrylic/ gesso paint, 5-10 layers of oil paint, up to 12 layers of acrylic white markings with hair direction and mapping, then details with acrylics or pastels. Many hours of work. Adding hair or re sculpting is even more time consuming, plus prepping the model with filing, sanding and re-carving ears and hooves, and whatever else is weak. As it is, I have around 400 factory painted and custom painted models of my own. I really need to sell half of these since I move so often and they can be damaged. Still easier to move than the rel horse. LOL Hope this helps! ***Edit*** Hi again, I put of all of my customs for sale in my webshots folder, I have two of three more to get pics of that I can add. Two are awaiting hair, but the paint is done. My favorite Appy Noriker is my latest. I also included all of the photos of stock horse models I have at my house and available to paint. I can later add the other choices that are out there. I've already sent you a few options that you can just go and buy that sound similar to your friends horse. Zippo Pine bar is very easy to find! Adding markings on a pre existing model is possible, but unless you have an airbrush and sealant, or are willing to do the 2O layers of watery iridescent acrylics, they look very silly! If you send a Chestnut horse to me, I can do these markings with a special paint formula and blend them in with individual hair mapping, then protect the paint with sealant. I've done this for people with models that have broken legs and needed filler and pins to make the leg stable and smooth again so even a child could play with it. For a sock and blaze, $10. Eyes, $5 extra. Some good models have good eyes with two or three colors. This is NOT a service I offer normally!! Only for friends, but I'll make an exception here because I too feel the loss of a beloved pet at Christmas and want so dearly to help another. person in behalf of my beloved Chloe. Here she is, passed on a year ago! http://pets.webshots.com/photo/2356835480101443917MrRknA Anyway, please give your poor friend my best wishes. I;m frickn' crying again. Time to go to the barn and hug my horse. merry Christmas.
  10. Yes you can get custom made horses. But I believe you can only get them at Breyerfest.(It is held at the Kentucky Horse Park every year) But they are expensive probably like $100 and up. Hope that helped.
  11. I would buy a breyer horse that looked as close to breed and body color of your friends horse. Then buy paint and add the markings. A friend did this for my Mom when she lost her Arabian stallion. The friend bought the bay Arab stallion breyer and white paint and added his markings. I've been collecting breyers for years and often think about buying ones that are similar in confirmation and color to my childhood mare and my current gelding and adding the white markings. I'm no artist, but figure if I could draw the markings on the registration papers I should be able to paint them on the breyer.
