Is my dog expecting pups?

Hi there everyone I have an appointment for the vets for next Friday already but would like to know wat everyone else thinks as well. My dog is between the ages of two or three and has recently had contact with another dog of the same breed and if she is expecting she ll be due on the 10th of April. Her nipples are bigger than normal but I've seen some pictures of dogs and they re not as big as that. She wee s in the house every now and again and she no s she not allowed to cos she looks guilty straight after she's done it. Even though she could be just in from going to the toilet and she's been house trained since I got her. She's our baby in the family and I'm so excited at the thought of her being pregnant but I'm also nervous for her too which is why I'm taking her the vets next week. Her appetite has decreased alot and she seems to eat more from dinner time on through the nite. She has gained 3 pounds since she's been in contact with this other dog and has got very broad around her rib cage which I've been told they carry high until further in the pregancy. Her belly I'd firm and you can feel little lumps but I'm never positive if it's pups. She very affectionate dog anyways but recently has been stuck to me and barks at other dogs if they come towards me. The back of her is swollen out as if she was still in heat I'm not sure if that's normal or not and she protects it with her tail down. She's a small staffy she was the smallest of her litter so I'm not sure how big she's supposed to get also She s also never wants to go to bed willingly but recently has been looking to go herself she looks depressed all the time especially if she's all alone. Is she pregant or should I be worrying?

  1. One way to tell. Sonogram at vets 28 days after breeding. Doubtful that any lumps you feel are puppies unless she is very far along.
  2. You need to take her to the vet, just like humans, people need prenatal care, she could be pregnant, or it could be a false pregnancy, either way it's good to know.
  3. You never know, wait to the vet appointment to find out. Seems like it tho. Early stages of pregnancy. I would love to be updated on the dog, what breed(: Good luck! Get ready for all the ignorant people to start commenting saying spay your dog and your dumb for breeding. I breed Dogue de Bordeauxs, so if you have any questions, message me!
  4. Please contact your breed mentor who you obtained while in the process of obtaining your dog's breed championship/working titles. Of course she's registered with a legit kennel club and has all health and genetic testing done before breeding?
  5. should be worrying
  6. my guess would say she is where you fealing the lump keep you hand on it dont push on them but see if they move a bit as it aproches to the day make sure she has a large open area to give birth in we make a very big open box and made sure the side were high enough so the babies would not be able to get out also make sure it has a lot of bedding in it wash it reaguly you will also need to stay wake with her around that day because she might give birth in the night (mine did) also stay awake with her for the next couple of weaks so she dont sit of them make sure they are drinking for the nipple. if you need any more help message me :) hope i helped!
