friend caught hacking a girls account? (10 points!)?
my friend has this thing with one of her old best friends (lets say sally) and she knows all sallys passwords so she went on a site thats kinda like myspace (but its not) and went on sally's account and wrote some really mean things that like the girls horse should drop dead and she has no life and stuff like that. so she went on sallys email and saw she emailed the abuse email and said someone hacked so she got nervous and changed it all back so sally could get back on and erased all the mean stuff but sally hasnt gotten back on yet. and they emailed her back and said they'd like to further investigate and to provide all this stuff and such. what can happen to her? can they like trace it to her computer? and what will be the consequences?? its not a paid site

- Yes, it can be traced through the IP address to your internet company. The internet company would legally have to tell them your information, like your name and address. It depends on where you live what happens after that. She could be fined or jailed, but it really depends on where you live (country/state/etc.).
- This seems like that incident I read about in the news where something similar happened and a girl committed suicide because of some malicious parent posing as a BF of a friend of her daughters. Depends on outcome. I don't recall the punishment for the crime.
- i dont know who is gonna investigate. but it can be traceable. by the date/time and the ip address that logged into that account. you should what the consequences will be.
- First of revenged is badut yes they can trace because nobody can log in anywhere with out leaving a mark like your IP-address. Then yes they can trace her computer, but she just have use an other computer that she doesn't own, then they can trace her. The consequences depends on the text she writes. If she writes threats and so on and so forth, then she can go to jail. If not, then she could many years probation from using a computer. Instead of hacking sally's account she should instead sue her for the damaging sally has caused her...(and no im not from America, but I just hate it when hackers misuse their abilities, that is supposed to help people).
