- Adequate caging would have no long term effects except possibly becoming 'spoiled'- expecting certain foods at certain times, not having to fight for anything, have all your needs met readily. Most people I know that have so-called 'wild' animals meet their physical and psychological needs and provide adequate space. Inadequate caging could be expected to have the long term effect of muscle atrophy and aberrant behaviors that differ with the species.
