How do you get rid of black mold on stuffed animals?

Please Help! I had my stuffed animals on my bed on the side where the wall was, and now I took them off, and there is black mold on them everywhere! They are very important to me, and I do not want to get rid of them at all. I heard that you can put clorox bleach cleaners on them, but I am still not sure if it will ruin the colors. Thank You.

  1. I know you don't want to hear this but there's nothing you can do. Sorry
  2. You should be able to wash them in the washing machine with warm water and color safe bleach, spin on high and dry on low until almost dry and then air dry. Unless they are really old and falling apart, in which case you may be able to soak them in bleach water, and gently ring them out and air dry. Normally the color is made not applied but the fibers are actually colored prior to prodection of the fabric, so bleach should not hurt them. You may also want to see how they got moldy to begin with. Unless there is a moisture problem in your home, you should not be getting black mold in rooms that do not get wet such as a bathroom or kitchen.
  3. I'd be more concerned about my own health than the stuffies. What is it about the room that mold is growing? Washing in a machine with bleach will not kill all the mold, but will be better than detergent alone. Also plan on cleaning everything else including the wall, improving air circulation in the room. You've been breathing that mold, lovely thought. Look here for something better than bleach......or let's say, the second step after bleach?? http://www.concrobium.com/atHome_howItWorks.php
  4. Black molds are very injurious for health and can cause you serious injury. You should use bleaches to clean and remove black molds from stuffed animals.
