Can dogs get sick from eating snow?
I have two dogs one is 9 months and the other is 2 and a half. Since we just got hit with this massive snow storm the 9 month old one has been eating a ton of snow and she started throwing up last night. I finally got the throwing up under control last night but she was outside this morning and most likely ate snow because she seems to love to and she started throwing up again. My older dog isn't throwing up but she rarely eats snow :/. Could it be the snow?

- yes eating excessive amounts of snow can make them sick i would suggest a basket style muzzle so your dog can still pant if needed but wont be able to eat mouth fulls of snow through. Hope this helps x
- From just snow? I don't think so, but if there were salt/sodium chloride or any other ice melter's put down the dogs could get sick.
- if they it a lot of amount of snow then yes they will get sick because they will catch a cold.
- No dogs can't get sick from eating snow. Although she could have to much water in her system and may just be naturally ballancing it out.
- Could there be some anti-freeze or snow-melt stuff in the snow? Dogs are very attracted to that stuff, but it is highly toxic.
- it depends on what is in the snow.if it is plain white snow then it is not because it is just water, but if you think that there is something in the snow you might want to check
- my american bulldog love the snow. he eats it licks it and every thing and never has gotten sick. now if he eats it and does get sick like yours i would think of where the snow is and what she got it from maybe it landed on some oil or gas by the shed or just landed on some thing that when she ate it it got her a tummy ache but i would just walk her out side so she dont eat it may be call your vet she could be eating so much that is her just leting some of it out,. like humans do. hope this helps
- No Is Snow Is Cold Water It Might Be The Dirt In The Snow Take Her To The Vets To Get Looked (dont Have To Not Crusuel) And You Can Put A Nuzzle On Her x
