Why do people say breeding mixed breeds ae bad?

When you are going to take care of the puppies? And why do people say mixed breeds are all the same, and what if the mix breed you want is not in the shelter? And you donate to the pound? i asked a previous question about my dog who might be pregnant but i got her spayed. some people want a particular mixed breed so how is that different than getting a purebred dog? and people who breed mixed breeds take great care of ther dogs *and what if the breeders who breed mixed breeds take great care of ther dogs

Why do people get so stuck on a particular mutt when mutts have NO predictable traits?
There are exceptions to everything, some people are just to busy spewing to realize. Heinz 57---pound hounds, are unpredictable....some crosses are totally predictable. You can still health test mutts, just because a dog doesn't have CH titles, doesn't mean it's not worthy of breeding. This is the one area I have trouble agreeing with people. Don't worry about it, there are other people who feel the same as you do. There are a few specific crosses that I'm drawn to as well, if people are disturbed by that then they DO need to get a life. As long as you are doing your part & being responsible for what you do, who gives a rats @ss what others think.
I don't know why. I'm getting a mixed breed in a few days. And it's not from the shelter. I'm getting a Cockapoo. (Cocker Spaniel-Poodle). Mix breeds AREN'T all the same. Oh yeah, I know i'm gonna get downs. Whoever does you have NO life. EDIT- My dog will never be going to the shelter. I will have him tll he day his little heart gives out and I'll be right beside him.

Because there is no way to know what traits you are going to get there are thousands of dogs killed in pounds every year Breeding isnt as easy as getting a male and female together, it costs a lot of money. a lot can go wrong many people say they will keep all the puppies but dont realize that they could get 10+ puppies many people say they have homes lined up but people back out those puppies might take homes from pound dogs I dont have a problem with mixed breeds, out of 6 dogs only two have being purebreeds. but people shouldn't be purposly breeding any kind of dog for money or just to have more dogs when there are so many homeless animals and most dont know how to deal with things that go wrong, or cant afford it.
Because there's a lot more to breeding than sticking a dog and a b 1tch together. You have to consider conformation or working drives, extensive genetic health testing (not a trip to the vet, requires specialists), making sure the dogs both have sound, stable temperaments, having 1000+ saved for possible complications during whelp, preparing for a dying/dead b 1tch and/or pups etc. Mutts should not ever be bred unless for working purposes. Other than that cull them all (spay/neuter). Edit: Mixing breeds does NOT cancel out health problems, in fact, it exacerbates them. Whoever thought of that idea is a moron. Edit: It doesn't matter if the breeder takes care of them, they're still breeding genetically unhealthy, temperamentally unsound dogs. And why would someone want a specific mix anyways?
Mixed breeds can be good as they breed out genetic issues that are associated with the pure breed dogs. HOWEVER the issue I have is that people give them these breed names such as spoodle (spaniel x poodle) and it is not a breed it is a spaniel x poodle and should sold as such. I have an issue with people who are backyard breeders do not pay to register their business, animals and do not have their dogs well cared for charging as much as a pure bred that has papers because it is a "designer" dog. There are sooooooo many dogs that need homes pure and cross that why would you chose to breed another cross breed just so someone can have the ultimate dog? Can domating to a shelter does not stop them being over filled and having to euthanise animals.
Breeding mixed breeds (designer dogs like cockapoos, yorkipoos, etc...) is seen as "bad" because a lot of the time, those who breed them are irresponsible with their breeding and the dogs end up having lots of health and genetic problems. "Cockapoo Lover," you bet you're gonna get low ratings, from people WITH lives.
RE Additional Details: Care for it or not, once again your missing the point. With every mixed breed unnessecarily brought into the world, once AGAIN, One less home for a shelter dog!!! Can't we pay some mind to the overabundance of dogs we already have? There are MILLIONS of homeless animals in shelters right now, I'm sure you can find ONE that suits you! And if you can't find the one your looking for at a shelter, there are also rescue groups, which you can find via petfinder.com , with purebred dogs and more mixes. Its not bad, Its just that now there are more mixed breeds than purebreds. Mixed breed arent all the same. Im sure you can find any breed you want in a shelter if you keep looking. I dont care if you donate to the pound, you should be donating to the animal shelters instead like Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. If you did that, youd be one of the greatest people ever. To Ashley: There are tons of purebreds in shelters too being put to sleep, not just mutts. Get your facts right. Not just mixed breeds come out deformed either, purebreds can have deformities too. I have nothing against mixed breeds, I just get tired of going to my local petstore and seeing: Chihuahua/Yorkie, Chihuahua/Shih Tzu, Border Collie/Heeler, Lab/Anatolian, Poodle/Chihuahua, Chiweenie etc. to name a few. I loved it when I went and saw: Chihuahua, Labrador Retriever, Poodle, Yorkie, Pug, Welsh Corgi, Dachshund, Border Collie to name a few. Bring back the purebreds people!
Do you have any idea of how many dogs end up in the pounds & shelters on a daily basis? Weekly basis or even a yearly basis. It is staggering ! ! ! ! ! Most are unwanted pit bulls & mostly mutts after that. You will occasionally find a pure breed here & there but they are just pet quality. Breeding mutts or cross breeds it at the bottom. Breeding pet quality dogs is next Breeding for show is at the top. This is just the basics. I have never bought or sold a dog & I have never adopted a dog but I have had dogs all my life. I rescue dogs off the street, dogs that are headed for the pound, abandoned litters, emergency placements from shelters, dogs given to me by shelters because I am used to large breed dogs. Don't add to the over population of dogs in pounds & shelters. Adopt instead of breeding. There is no logical reason to breed cross breeds. There are soooo many dogs out there that need homes & will end up being euthanized because no body wants them. It just makes my heart bleed just knowing there are so many & I can't do a thing to help. I just take in a few here & there but I know I am saving lives every time I take in another dog. But I cry for the lose of lives I can do nothing about. That is why breeding cross breeds are so bad. Okay I'll beat the dead horse one more time. People don't want you supporting irresponsible breeders they're half the reason why we have a pet overpopulation the other half is irresponsible owners. Irresponsible breeders are much like pet stores in the sense that, they don't have the animals best interest at heart. They will sell to whoever can shell out the money. They also do not stand by their dog's health. Meaning they unwilling to take their puppies back after X amount of days. Where do you think those dog's are going to turn up?....the shelter, or streets perhaps. None of this is so with reputable breeders (who do not breed mixes.) And while you might be responsible dog owner who has made the commitment to care for your dog's for the full length of their lifespan. You are helping perpetuate a serious problem. By purchasing from irresponsible breeders you are helping make room for their next litter, thus keeping their business running.

because they only think show dogs should be bred...it's not only mixed breeds it's purebreds not bred by kennel club breed standards too... mixed breeds are the perfect breed..i don't adopt i prefer mine from my local paper... i do through state taxes...
every puppy you bring into this world that you keep or find a home for is a home that a shelter dog could have had. Regardless of what "mix" you want.. mixes dont conform to any standards, there's no guarantees on what traits you will get.. a yorkie/poodle mix really is not much different from any other yorkie mix or any other poodle mix. So what if you donate the the pound? Thats really kind of counter productive when you are making more mongrels to fill the shelter with.
