- yes but they are limited to the events they can be entered in (such as agility, etc) and they are REQUIRED to be fixed before they can compete. They will only be judged against other mixed breeds as well. Check the AKC website for all of the details. Hope i helped :o)
- Mixed breeds are not allowed in dog shows. What is a dog show? Judging the dog as to how closely it matches the breed standard. How would you do that with a mixed breed? There is no standard to compare them to. Therefore, mixed breeds will never be allowed in dog shows.
- Not that I am aware of. I believe they can compete in other AKC activities, like agility trials & such. If it's changed that is news to me... Add: I just looked into it a little more & found some info on akc.org. This might help http://www.akc.org/pdfs/mixedBreed/MB_ClubFAQ.pdf It's all news to me.
- Erika is correct, except I'm not sure if this has went into effect yet. NO conformation showing, for obvious reasons.
- Not in conformation shows. Mutts have no breed standard. There would be nothing to judge. They can be in performance sports by the AKC however.
- Only spayed/neutered dogs in performance events. Obviously conformation is still limited to pure bred intact animals.
