Why don't people like cross-breed dogs?

I've seen some questions about peoples dogs, and ive seen that some people say that they hate cross-breeds... I've got a cross-breed dog, he's a english x welsh springer spaniel, and he's a brilliant dog. He's 13 years old, friendly with strangers, kids, cats and other dogs and is perfectly healthy and i had another english springer who was a pure breed and he died with a heart complaint when he was 12 years old. So why hate them??

OK, please do provide a link or example where someone here stated their hatred of mixed breed dogs? Can't find it? Did not think you would, since it never happened. People just don't think you should pay out the a$$ for some dogs that were ill bred and deliberately made up crosses with funny names. The recommendation is always to go to a rescue or shelter and give such a dog a home.
well theres lots of us who are show dog people and strictly believe in pure breds.. now dont get me wrong i love every dog.. mixed breed or not.. but when people intentionally mix breeds health concerns often come up that could be avoided by appropriately breeding out bad qualitys .. hense the hate of " designer dogs"
I think a lot of people don't like "labrapooshizachichihucorgidoodle" dogs; the mixbreeds that people give a cute label and sell for a ton of money. A designer dog does not exist, it's a mix. I know for one that bugs people. Secondly, I too don't understand why people don't like mixbreeds, unless people are intentionally breeding them. There are already too many dogs in the world, and mixes have a harder time finding a home. I myself have a mixbreed, she's a great dog. :)
Gods no one HATES the dog. What we HATE are the people who continue to pump them out slap some stupid fake breed name and then charge 800 and up for a MUTT. A mutt that the same quality of can be found in the shelters for cheap. We hate that people continue to spread unfounded lies in regards to mutts being better. THAT is what we hate. And as far as your ESS goes. Died at 12 years old which is old for the breed of a non genetic heart problem. how does that have to do with him being purebred? Nothing.
It's not the dogs I don't like....it's the people who purposely breed them and then charge an arm and a leg trying to pass them off as "designer dogs".

No, you have a mix breed dog.Cross breeds are different species, your dog is all dog I am sure, just mix breeds.Nobody "hates" mix breed mutts, that's just silly. What responsible people who love animals "hate" are back yard breeders who breed without knowing what they are doing or puppy millers and scam artists who purposely breed mixes and advertise them as "designer" dogs Clueless buyers are fooled and buy these mixes when you can go to any shelter, Petfinder.com or even breed rescues (many take mixes of their breed with another breed - we get chihuahua/dachshund, dachshund/hound and dachshund/terrier mixes sometimes, if we have foster home space, we take them in) and find a perfectly wonderful mix. Educate yourself, don't jump to ridiculous conclusions.
Most people don't hate mixed breeds, we just hate the breeders. Mixed breeds can be great pets, but breeding two separate breeds together either on purpose or by accident is irresponsible and stupid. Our shelters are over-flowing with mixed breed dogs that are cute and sweet and would make someone a very nice pet. But to purposely breed to make cute puppies is wrong on every level, especially when shelters such as ours are overrun and having to euthanize on a daily basis.
alot of people don't hate mixed breeds but many people hate the people who intentionally cross them with other dogs and make "designer" breeds like doodles and poos i personally love mixed breeds but it is wrong for people to breed them on purpose,i have nothing against the dog for the record,both my dogs are mixed breeds (lab/APBT mix and lab/springer spaniel mix)
most of the time on here,its not that they hate cross breeds,many people here have mix breeds,its that they hate when people will buy a mix breed (cocker spaniel poodle mix) and call it a "cockapoo" and that they will pay thousands of dollars for a dog,when there is the same thing dying in a shelter,they get angry that someone will pay that instead of saving a life,and that they think that its a real breed,and that people will purposefully CAUSE mix breeds when there are thousands dying every day in shelters.
Somtimes they are fine and live perfectly healthy lives but other times they end with the some/all of the complications of both breeds (hip problems, ear infections, etc.) so it can be a gamble on whether or not they will be ok. Some people see this as cruel. Tokio Hotel is horrible, BTW.
You haven't seen anyone say they hate them. I can guarantee that. You have seen people say that "Labradoodles," "Chiweenies," and other designer dogs are mutts, and you have seen people criticized for claiming otherwise. You have seen people say that they would personally rather have a well-bred, predictable purebred dog instead of a mystery mutt. This is a personal choice and does not even imply that someone hates mutts. The only thing it means is that they want to know exactly what they are getting when they get a dog. You have seen people try to dispel silly, baseless myths about mutts (they are healthier, smarter, have more personality, etc...) You have seen people be chastised for paying a backyard breeder or pet store for a mutt, the same mutt they could pick up for a fraction of the cost at any shelter or rescue WITHOUT supporting such disgusting businesses. You have seen people be chastised for intentionally breeding mutts. You HAVE NOT seen anyone say they hate mutts.
Purebred dogs have the same disposition each time. A beagle is a hunting dog and a pug is a lap dog. If you mix breed the two (bug? peagle?) your dog maybe a good hunter or a good lap dog. It may be difficult to tell how the dog will turn out when he is still young. If you want a hunter, buy a beagle and if you want a lap dog, you buy a pug. That being said, sometimes the mixture of the two breeds makes for a dog that is suited to you. The "peagle" example might be a decent hunting dog who likes to sit on your lap and you might like that. Mixed breeds are a little more chancy than a purebreed.
i like them? i like all dogs? i have a dog who is a mixed breed. she is a greyhound & Collie Mix. I didnt make her like that. she was adopted, & shes healthy loving and protective just like any other dog as long as your not breeding them on a puppy farm to make the 'perfect' breed, i dont think anyone has a problem with it
I hate "Tokio Hotel" - the lead singer looks like a girl...off topic I know, but I just had to say it. NOBODY hates cross-bred dogs. People hate the irresponsible morons that breed them selfishly for profit to line their greedy little pockets. Can we get over this debate now? @Karina - hate to break it to you hunny but mutts do not inherit only the "good" genes, they are just as likely to inherit the "bad" ones as well. And it's INBRED not "inter bred" - lol, you're silly.
to me a mutt is just as good as a pure bred. I dont judge a dog based on the breed but by the personality.
Many people "hate" cross breeds simply because they don't have "the look" as pure breeds do. A part english wolfhound is not going to have ALL the characteristics and "show look" that a pure wolfhound would. Mostly it comes down to looks and characteristics. You're not going to get a brnad new Mustang out of a station wagon :) Perosnally, I LOVE mutts. They're all unique, live longer, and have less health problems because they have't been bred and bred and bred to create a "perfect" animal.
NO ONE said that they "hate" cross breeds! We hate people who purposly BREED them, or BUY them from breeders! There's lots of WONDERFUL mutts in shelters and rescues that make great pets.. they are all waiting for homes! There's just simply not enough homes tho, there's no reason to breed or buy them when the same thing is sitting in your local shelter waiting for euthanasia!
I love cross breeds my sel, they always have so much personality, i have had a lab cross collie and a terrier cross bless her she was a right mixture, got her from a rescue place and she was the best doggy eva, she was perfect in every way sadly she died last year aged 13. I know have a 8 month havanese cross lhasa apso and she is stunning. I dont know why people dont like them as much, i think there alot better because they get the best traits out of the dogs they are mixed with and a really low chance of being inter- bread .
ha i asked the exact same question a little while ago. It's where they come from not mutts themselves. People who breed mutts are not doing it for the breed or trying to improve a breed because there is no breed you can improve. This means that reason the person bred the dog wasn't a good one and most likely was not prepared or knowledgeable enough. The people however who say things like "ew mutts" or just senseless things have it all wrong. hate the breeder not the dog it isn't their fault. hope this helps!
