- Its a good thing. Wild animals in zoos act as animal ambassadors and educate the public about the importance of conservation. Zoo's also provide a sanctuary for animals with debilitating injuries who can no longer survive in the wild, in addition, it also aids in conservation as many zoo's have successful breeding programs that can bring an endangered species back to normal population numbers
- I personally do not like seeing wild animals in cages.. but sometimes they do not have a choice.. People buy bears and they get confiscated.... its illegal to return a captive born bear back into the wild... so it must go to a zoo or be killed. same with other animals.. Im not sure on alot of them.. why they are there... but as a wildlife rehabilitator.. I know people buy raccoons also.. they have them declawed and defanged thinking it will make them nice! It doesnt work... they either give me the coon willingly... or alot of times they have found a orphan coon and raised it and they get caught. I cannot release a raccoon w/ no claws and no canines! but yet it doesnt deserve to be put to sleep... so zoos get them. not sure if that answered your question lol b/c they do more harm than good..???? I dont the animals are doing any harm...I can only speak for a few animals.. one being the raccoons.. and I can assure you they are much happier at the zoo than in a 3x2 cage.
- i most certainly do NOT approve of keeping animals in zoos. as a devout animal rights activist, i believe that animals should not be restricted in such a way and should be able to do things naturally. and to any of those who use the endangerment of animals as an excuse, things could just as easily be done while the animal is still in the wild. keeping them in an area (NOT a cage) while healing is different, as long as they are released as soon as possible without putting the animal at risk. people who put animals in zoos say that it is for their own good and say that they love the animals, but if they TRULY loved them they would leave them to be truly happy in the wild where they belong, in their natural habitat. it is my opinion that this should make sense to anyone who really loves animals and has the animals' best interest at heart.
