How long does it take for my cat to cough up his hairball?

It's been 3 days now and nothing she's still eating and drinking and playing put pauses for a minute to cough up this stubborn hairball,I can't take her to the vet right now i'm in between paydays and they don't help you what so ever when you don't have any money,Is there something that i can do to help her get it up,Anything help please.

Have your kitty nibble on some grass. That oughta do it in short order. I always buy wheatgrass from the produce section of the grocery store, and set it on the kitchen floor. The cats eat it if they know they need to bring up a furball. Also, you can add a bit of Missing Link to his food, to help the hair pass through his intestines and come out the other way. Do it gradually though: if you add more than they say on the bag, it can cause diarrhea. Make sure to store it in the fridge. Give your kitty plenty of moist food to help pass the hairball. They are made worse by dry food. I also puncture a capsule of fish oil and add one per cat per day. I either add it to their food, or squirt it out on a plate and they take it straight.
I use Hartz Mountain hairball gel or Laxatone gel. Give her a 1/2 inch long piece It's cheap and works well Frequently combing or brushing helps too
Get some hairball formula at a pet store. If he still keeps coughing, then it might not be hairball. He could have asthma or heart worms.
It's NOT a hairball--those either come up immediately from the stomach or they go through the digestive system and come out the other end mixed in with the poo. Your cat is coughing from his lungs, which means phlem. Is there a 'swallow' at the end? He's bringing up phlem and swallowing it. The cause can be a low grade upper respiratory infection, or roundworms in the lungs, or a case of asthma. The cure usually is to first test the cat for worms, and treat those. If no worms are found in the poo, then a course of antibiotics is scheduled. If the cat has asthma, a steroid is given.
