is it normal for 6 weeks old German Shepherd puppies to bite my feet?
it seems like they're looking for their mom's nipple. can anyone tell me when they will stop?

- They'll stop when you stop putting your feet in front of them to bite!!
- Dogs at all ages like to chew things. I think they're just playing with your feet. Unless your toes looks like big nipples...lol
- It's his way of playing. But you need to correct him now. He won't be a cute puppy forever, and when he's an adult, that could hurt and get really annoying really quick.
- entirely... they'll grow out of it...
- They are just being playful puppies. All puppies are playful. Good luck with your pups!
- He's playing with you. Get an old sock and play tug of war with him and give him a few toys to play with. Also give him something to chew on..he's like a baby and is teething. Have fun with him!
- Yes, this is completely normal. Dogs, as a species, learn the most when they are young, just as humans do. This is a social behavior and they are learning their boundaries and what is acceptable in the world. If you reinforce the behavior, i.e. let it continue, they may continue biting as they grow. If you stop it and punish them, they will learn that biting is not acceptable and will stop.
- it will probably bite more and play roughly if you allow it to or if you play rough with it back=)
- It's normal for a 6 week old puppy to bite everything! You need to teach it not to mouth. I sure hope you have the mother of the pups, too. Taking away a puppy before the age of 8 weeks can cause a lot of behavioral problems in the future....not to mention that the puppy still needs its mom and littermates at that age.
- No - because it's not normal for intelligent humans to be bare-footed when there are pups around. Those teeth are like NEEDLES! But my vet usually has to do his shoe-laces up after I close the gate behind him when he's finished vaccinating the litter. Me, I wear gumboots when with a mobile litter - no laces for the pups to grab hold of. Lively pups grab ANYTHING they can reach - especially if it moves. If they can carry it, it becomes the "treasure" in a game of "Catch Me If You Can". Les P, owner of GSD_Friendly: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/GSD_Friendly "In GSDs" as of 1967
- Hi! Hope this helps. Dogs love to chew, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. Chewing can be a great diversion for dogs who spend parts of their days alone, as long as it's not your furniture or shoes they're chewing on. The same training that goes into teaching your dog what's okay to sink her teeth into, also applies to making sure it's never flesh. Again, the earlier a dog gets started, the better. But even if you're not working with a puppy, it's possible to inhibit biting and chewing. Click the link below for more information. Thank you!
