Anyone know where to find inexpensive good german shepherd puppies for family pet in Texas?

Im looking for a good family pet but young as a puppy so that it can grow up with our cat. I dont want to anywhere close to a thousand dollars and dont need a working or show dog.

2. Inexpensive? Purebred? Puppy? From a good ethical breeder? Sorry, you won't be getting one for at least $400-500 dollars. My own GSD cost me £500/$1000. If you want a well bred, healthy pup who is going to be with your family for around 12 years you will be willing to pay. After all you wouldn't feed your kids crap just to save a bit of money would you?

4. Inexpensive and good is an oxymoron. You won't find a well bred GSD for cheap. If you want a well-bred dog (show or pet quality), you will have to spend a little more than you think. If you don't want to spend breeder costs on a pup, why not look in your local shelters for GSDs or GSD mixes? There will be plenty of puppies there that need a good home.
5. Your going to be out of luck if you don’t want to pay the top dollar for a reputable breeders dog. Then you will need to hit your local shelters and rescues even contact some GSD breed specific rescues. About a year ago at the shelter I volunteer at we got in 7 GSD puppies it was hectic because everyone wanted them, even a few fights broke out over who was there first etc. If only everyone fought over all our dogs/puppies like that. So as you can see in most cases if a shelter gets in GSD puppies they are going to go quickly. Most shelters also have a lot of GSD mixes It is possible you can find dogs that have lived with cats and get along fine with them. That might be better then getting a puppy because you just don’t know. One of my favorite’s dogs was returned because he chased the family cat and he was only 4 months old at the time. Thankfully he did get adopted later by a wonderful couple. You might also check out petfinder.com
6. Good? Inexpensive?? In the same sentence? And pigs might fly. The words good and inexpensive do not belng in the same sentence when talking about dogs love. Try a breed specific rescue in your area.

8. An excellent breed. We had a shepherd when I was a kid. We bought her in Germany and brought her back to the states. Check with local dog shelters or rescues. Might not find a puppy, but you never know. I wish you luck.
