Cross Breeds

I would like to build a feeder for wild animals like deers.?

My lot consists of small wood. During winter wild animals like deers visit my spot and I would like to feed them with hay for example. Does anyone have an idea where I can find a design or just a simple draw for such feeders?

  1. There are many deer feeders on the market that are reasonable in price and do the job quite well. I suggest you check at an outdoor store that sells hunting equipment. These feeders dole out the food and there is less for squirrels and other un wanted rodents to eat.
  2. I dont think you can make a feeder for deer because that would be like making them eat out of a dog bowl. There is a certain plant called arborvitaes that deer absolutelly love. They are also known as white seeder.
  3. BUY 10 ' length of 4 " pvc pipe==cut it in 5 " sections==cut a hole in the side at the bottom using a jig saw or coping saw-- the hole will resemble an up side down==U== put a 4 cap on top end ==do not glue it==as this is where you will pour the corn in==the cap is to keep out water==strap the pipe to a tree or post so the bottom is bout 3 " off the ground==as the deer eat the corn that spills out-- more will be replaced==also deer like salt blocks--you can get 1 at a feed and seed store==dig a hole the depth the block is ==place the block in it and partly cover it up==the deer will un cover it as they lick on it
  4. You also should check if it's legal to feed deer where you are. Some states don't, like NY.
  5. You will find that deer are not that picky. I would recommend going to a farm supply and look at the feeders available for livestock. Choosing one depends on what you plan on feeding them. Grass hay is good and they will eat goat chow and just about anything livestock will eat. There are places that sell a game mix feed that is a blend and would require some kind of trough. Let me warn you that if you like to garden getting the deer comfortable with eating at your place will become a habit that could present some challenges for your garden come summer.
  6. Get Biologic instead of hay. My hubby planted it and the deer go crazy! they love it! Not sure about how much it costs, but it is def worth it!
  7. Im sure theres many anserws if you just serch it. i know deer love corn, they also like pumpkins. you can hallow out and pumpkin and put corn in it, although temporary it makes a great show!
  8. no offense, but deer feed off the land... and should not be feed...
