Why is it big dogs are consider more dangerous than small dogs?

Small dogs are more aggressive and they have a larger attitude. Like example a little toy dog like a pomeranian or chihuahua can turn into a tasmanian devil when there angry.

  1. 180lb Great Dane > 4lb chihuahua You can only drop kick one of them.
  2. Simple, bigger dogs have bigger teeth.
  3. cause a little dog can't knock you down and rip a big hole in your neck.
  4. it is fact that smaller dogs are the cause of most bites, as compared to larger dogs..why? a combo of things..that owners think because the are small, they will not cause much harm by being aggressive, hence they do not punish or control them as much as they would a larger dog. and also, children are less afraid of smaller dogs, hence tend to climb all over them, and irritate them more, making them more apt to nip. in all of these cases, of course..it is the humans fault for being irresponsible
  5. Ferrets are dangerous they bite really hard.
  6. I guess people are more intimidated by larger dogs opposed to smaller dogs, but i do agree with you it's not overly true. I own a Golden Retriever, i do not see him being a danger to society anytime soon. (Lol) Mainly the breed pit-bulls, bulldogs etc are the dog to beware of as they are quite dangerous and are known to quite literally rip apart a human within a matter of minutes, especially a child.
  7. im just guessing but i would say because they can do more damage to u than a small dog because no matter how mad a chihuahua gets hes not gonna bite your hand off like a pitt could
  8. because big dogs can inflict greater damage.......
  9. For real, i'd say the small ones are the dangerous ones. The big ones are big softies, i just got a random one come to my door. I see jack russels and foxies nasty and goldies and german shepherds are nice. the bigger ones have more chance to kill you because their so big and strong. the smaller ones don't have a chance against the bigger ones, smaller ones can punchture your skin but the bigger ones kill
  10. Hmmm I think it's because they ARE more dangerous. What's more dangerous a bobcat or a tiger?
  11. Their overall strength and size coupled with the jaw strength makes big dogs more to be feared. A little dog might get aggressive but if it came to it the little dog can actually be crushed under foot or between hands.
  12. I agree, I know several small dogs with very big attitudes. The answer is most people tend to ignore aggressive behavior in small dogs because they are so small, and can't really do much to you. A large dog on the other hand, can do a lot more damage with a lot less effort, so they get more press small dogs. "Man mauled by Rottweiler" is better news than "man gets bitten by Chihuahua".
  13. I think it's true that little dogs tend to be more aggressive, but big dogs, when aggressive are definitely more dangerous. When was the last time you heard of someone being mauled to death by a Pomeranian or a Chihuahua? Never happens.
  14. I'll come back to you when I'm more scared of a big dog over a small dog - I find Chihuahuas genuinely freaky and would rather have a 100lb Rottie on my lap than a Chihuahua... genuinely. Chis have angry short person syndrome!
  15. They can technically speaking create more damage to flesh due to the size of their jaws being larger than that of a small dog.
  16. i dont know, but they are! i had a jack russell go for my doberman last nite, and my dobie was petrified
  17. Stereotypes of big dogs being guard dogs and mean and vicious when in reality big dogs are calmer and better with children than small dogs. I have had big dogs all my life ex. Rottweiler and St. Bernard. Most people are scared of both but they loved people so much and were very socialized but if they came in contact with a smaller dog they cowered and tried to be nonagressive.
