what sort of percentage of African wild animals are eaten by carnivores?

In the wild, is it the usual fate of animals such as zebra, giraffe, antelope or deer to end their days being killed and eaten by lions, etc?

Public Comments

  1. Actually 100%. Some are hunted down, others eaten by scavangers after they die of some other cause.
  2. All the African grazing animals are prey animals pretty much except for the Elephants/Cape Water Buffalo or Hippo. The other animals are predators/scavengers in the chain of life. It is extremely difficult to kill the above 3 named animals because they have good defense systems, attack in groups, and defend their members, especially the youngest/oldest, as a group.
