Are wild animals, like deer and squirrels, better for you than store-bought meats?

Is wild meat more healthy, since wild animals don't eat bad stuff?

  1. yes there not filled with perservitives and who knows what else plus they taste better..
  2. why buy from the farm when you can get for free, no chemicals, pesticdes or preservatives, any that have those problems usually dont make it to the harvest dinner table.
  3. yes because they are not processed. you witness everything that happens.
  4. Yes it is. Less fat, no preservatives. See the link below...it talks about the advantages of venison (deer meat).
  5. Yes and no. Wild animal meat tend to be tougher because animals are running around in the wild, store bought meat is tender because they are raised in a close enviroment and they dont move around as much. WIld animals are probably free of antibiotics and other substances that are used on the store bought meat but you dont know if that animal is free of disease. I know deer, moose and caribou are great meats, i dont know about the squirrel. Sounds kind of gross to me.
  6. Yeah but game is tougher because the animals move around more than animals raised in closed enviornments.
  7. not really, they are now finding that deer in the wild have the brain wasting disease. alot of the eld and moose have it also. hear more about it out west but just wait until deer season opens in a couple weeks. you will be hearing about it more and more
  8. no
  9. Absolutely, when you consider that store bought (providing they are not organic, which they all are) are laden with anti-biotics, they are fed a mixture of soy products in their winter foods, (soy actually soften the bones like aspic (jelly) and does NOT make them strong and healthy. Anything that passes through an animals mouth is what you are eating. I can taste the difference in organic and non-organic meats, oh the meats smell funny before they are cooked, this could be all the chemicals the animals have injected. Hope this helps.
  10. Yes, no chemicals or additives, like in store bought meats.
  11. If Davy Crockett could feed his family on squirrels and rabbit, then they must be good. Dave and Mrs. C. never ate cows. Their cow was for the milk for the wee ones.
