Do the apricot color on Maltese puppies ears turn white in time?

I was wondering if anyone knows whether or not the apricot color on some maltese's ears turn white as they age into adults. I see a lot of puppies with the cream colored ears and spot on the back and I know the AKC states that it's undersireable but do they change color to white? If so, when does that change occur? Thanks!

1. Most do but some keep the apricot color. The color finally changes long about a year old when they have lost puppy hair.
