How to clean and cook animals in the wild?

I need a good source of information on how to properly cut, clean, cook and whatever else needs to be done on various wild animals. I'm planning on becoming a hermit, so I have to learn to live off the land.

  1. capture a chipmunk, fry it, and then EAT IT!!!! (THAT SOUNDS GOOD.... YUM.....). What the hell is with HERMITS!!!!! dont become a hermit dude. FOOD STORES WERE MADE FOR A REASON!!!!!
  2. unfortunately this has become somewhat of a lost art. Even though at one time every human knew how to do this to survive. But now that everyone has turned into animal loving activists that refuse to eat meat. It's kind of hard to find someone who actually knows how to do this. I guess you can contact your local indian reservation and see if they still peform these rituals. Or get together with a well experienced hunter in your area.
  3. I have never lived in the wild or anything like that but I have killed and eaten wild animals. I mean if blood and guts bothers you I would say this isnt for you... I cut the animals head completely off (whilst being tied by its feet upside down) and then cut from it genital area to the stump of its neck and remove all of the guts( well they kinda just fall actaully) and cut the connects (you wanna have a tote or bucket underneath no catch oll of this stuff to be removed later) then you let them hang for about an hour so that they can bleed out. after this you skin I start at the stump of the neck. you pull the skin taught and then follow with a sharp knife under the skin . you can then cut slabs of meat off. cut against the grain so it will be easier to eat (also can do with steaks at home) after you can take the unwanted parts (in the bucket) and either bury or burn them (yes they will smell very awful) you can boil, roast, fry the meat anything you can do with store bought meat. you can preserve it as well if your interested in the wild i would look that up 2. - hope that helps
  4. Wild animals are no different than domestic animals when it comes to cleaning and cooking them. If you don't now how to clean an animla to prepare it for cooking, go to the library and ask the librarian to help you find a book on dressing out animals. Also ask for a cook book. Use the wild meat just as if it was something that you bought from the store all wrapped in plastic. Only you will know what you like to eat so you will have to pick out the recipes. This hermit stuff sounds pretty goofy to me but if that is your thing, go for it. Good luck.
  5. you gonna turn to drinking to man bad stuff
  6. Before you become a hermit you need to take a week out in the wilderness to live off the land. Insect bites and lack of food variety are enough to drive many people insane. 2 weeks a year I hike the Ouachita trail and it aint easy as it seems. If you become a hermit, you'll have to also be a poacher in order to feed yourself. If you get caught.. you wont be able to pay the fine and you will then be a wanted man. You'll also need to learn not just how to clean.. but how to preserve it! If you kill a deer or other large animal.. you'll have too much meat and it will spoil if you dont properly preserve it. It might be easier for you to work a 9-5 than to live as a hermit.
  7. man, any fool should be able to cook any sort of animal, that is the easy part. How are you going to catch these animals? Boy, the world is truely becoming detached from reality, thinking cooking is the hard part, that you can walk out and there will be animals just wandering around like people at the mall. Heck, eat it raw, that's what every other animal on this planet does with the prey it catches.
  8. There are a couple of books that cover this. Ted Nugent has a book I think called something like Kill it, Grill it
