What is so special about Breyer Horses?

I love horses, and I always see these ads for Breyer Horses, and I was just wondering what they are? And when I say that, I mean, why are they so special apart from other model horses? Do they like, do something special?

1. the company is over 100 years old and they make other animal models too and some where limited editions and some of the really old models cost a ton of money however they are more for dislplay and not playing with it is the equivalent of porcelain dolls they will break quite easily too i had one of the unicorn models it fell off my book case and one of the legs broke off.
