What are your favourite cross dog breeds?

- This only gives reasons for backyard breeders, to continue breeding mutts *I* do not have any favorite type of mutt. Mutts are mutts. All the same, and they are NOT breeds.
- well...it isnt a cross bread dog but i say a golden retriever
- golden retriever & lab
- Heinz 57! From all the dogs I've been around, its the muts that nobody seems to know what they are that are the smartest, healthiest, and most social. I love it when anybody sees and meets my rescue, because they all think she's a mix of something completely different.
- To adopt a mutt, which you are talking about, from a rescue or shelter and to make a lifelong commitment to it is mutually rewarding. If you are looking for a so-called designer dog, no mix is best. This planned mutation will bring out the worst traits of each breed. As for the wolf dog answer, there is a reason they are banned in many states and why there are wild dog rescues for them. These dogs are known killers and should NEVER be bred. The are not like pit bulls, who are infamously trained and abused into fighting, but because of the dominate traits in the parents. For example, from the dog, the puppy will be curious about humans but from the wolf it will know to be afraid of them. Wolf dogs are also extremly strong-much stronger than any domesticated breed. Creating a wolf dog is creating an unhappy, often abused neglected or surrendered, frighten and dangerous animal.
- Pomeranian /Chihuahua. (Pom/Chi's) Wonderful dogs. This is for people that use the term "Mutt" so freely and don't really understand the difference between a "mutt" and a crossbreed. The term crossbreed refers to dogs produced by the intentional crossing of two different known purebred dog breeds. The term "mutt" or mixed-breed generally refers to a dog of unknown descent.
- Call it what you want a mutt is a mutt at the end of the day. It may have known parentage but it is not a breed and therefore cannot be called a cross breed. My favourite mutt is whichever one chooses me as its forever home :) ETA: Kaper thank you for confirming what the majority of us know, TU for you!
- Um. Luvkat, care to guess again.... From the dictionary mutt (mt) n. Informal 1. A mongrel dog. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/mutt Sooo, we need to look up mongrel monĀ·grel (mnggrl, mng-) n. 1. An animal or a plant resulting from various interbreedings, especially a dog of mixed or undetermined breed. 2. A cross between different breeds, groups, or varieties, especially a mixture that is or appears to be incongruous. http://www.thefreedictionary.com/mongrel Hmm, seems that a mutt is a mix of any two breeds, regardless of intention or knowledge of origin. My favorite mutt is any one that was not intentionally bred to sucker lots of money out of people.
