  1. So, a "college essay"? >"Its a pretty big research paper so I would appreciate any tips" How is posting a question on Yahoo Answers asking "Anything you think i should include" considered "research"? http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=Iditarod+Great+Sled+Dog+Race&aq=f&oq=&aqi= www.google.com Keywords: Iditarod+Great+Sled+Dog+Race Any of these keywords look familiar?
  2. yeah i have an idea. While Lance Mackey has done wonderful things I think you should consider doing something, I don't know, original. like looking at Susan Butcher who had an awesome career. Dee Dee Jonrowe also contributed more to the sport than just back to back wins. Shoot, there was even a blind entrant in the 2008 race, I believe,. check her out too. Lance is obvious and he is main stream. step out and look at real contributions to the race. Or look into racing families like the Mackeys... Lance wasnt the first.
  3. Although dontknow is a but snippy about it, she has a point the Ididarod is much bigger then just Lance Mackey. Although there is no denying that he has been an excellent ambassador of the sport, and a commanding champion. So you might consider doing the report on him, you realize he also won the Yukon Quest international 1000 mile dog sled race 4 times, and is a cancer survivor who now works with Livestrong foundation. You may need to more clearly define your topic. Even if you stick with Iditarod, here is the history, rules, training and preparation, dogs, dog care, and the list goes on. here are some general resources to get you started. First Lance, like most long distance sled dog racers runs Alaskan huskies, he has been breeding the dogs in his teams for generations. more on the Alaskan husky: http://www.yukonquest.com/site/sled-dogs/ http://www.flickr.com/groups/28214111@N00/discuss/115432/ http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123655651750166135.html And the Iditarod: (I will assume you have already gone to the races website) http://www.ultimateiditarod.com/dummies.htm And Lance: http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/iditarod/bios/mackey.html http://comebackkennel.com/index.html other resources you might look at are Mushing Magazine. backstage Iditarod, by June Price http://www.amazon.com/Backstage-Iditarod-June-Price/dp/0979582849 And husky Productions has some very good videos: http://www.huskyproductions.net/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=1&Itemid=30 I picked those 2 resources, becuase I happen to know both of those women are personally acquainted with the iditarod and many of the mushers so they have first hand information.
