What Breed is my Dog and Is His Tail Docked? (Picture)?

Can anyone tell me the breed of my dog? We've had this little cutie for a while and I've been wondering. I've looked up pictures of different breeds and I've been leaning toward a cocker spaniel. But from what I've seen, cocker spaniels are more "furry" and they get pretty big. Our dog, Samson, has short hair and we've had him for between 1-2 years and he hasn't grown much, if at all. I just realized that it might be hard to tell his size from the picture. He's about the size of a small house cat. Also, I was wondering if the previous owner had cut his tail or if he was born like that. I don't know much about tail-docking. Anyway, none of this effects the way we feel about our dog, I was just curious. (just looked up how to do it) :'P Wow, I've never even heard of a Cavalier King Charles. =O He definitely does look like he could be a mix of that breed. Thank you for pointing that out!

Looks like a cocker mix. The tail has been docked.
I am very sure he is a american cocker spaniel mix of some sort because of his face but his ears are wrong. Also I truely believe that his tail has been docked. I dont know I would need a better pic to really make a good judgement.
He does look like a mix for sure. Cocker Spaniel and some type of terrier probably. Tail is most definitely docked.
