biologists/zoologists: can you name me funny animals like the axolotl or literature?

I only know stephen jay gould but I don't like his books so much...do you know others? or just the names of the animals please? thank you

1. There is nothing funny about the axolotl. It is unfortunate that you don't like Gould's books. One of his books is a best seller, titled Wonderful Life: The Burgess Shale and the Nature of History. In this book are descriptions and illustrations of all sorts of weird looking fossil animals that are stranger than most aliens that have appeared in Hollywood movies. It appears that Nature has a more active imagination than screen writers. :) Even more important than the descriptions of these strange creatures is the lesson that we can deduce about evolution and history from their design and ultimate demise.
2. If you get off on axolotls, take a look at Chelus fimbriata, the matamata (turtle). You'll die laughing.
