- Any horse can live up to 30-35 years, with some odd occasions in which they could live up to 50 years old. I personally know a 57 year old horse. Grey horses suffer from melanomas, a skin cancer which affects horses with either white or grey coats. A grey horse is not white, they are different. These melanomas can be fatal, and usually, its stress which makes them go "crazy".
- Generally Arabians are a very long lived breed, often living and working into their late twenties and early thirties. In order to offer more healthy years for your twenty year old horse, follow a through preventative health care program of routine health evaluations with a vet (at least once a year), rotational de-worming, annual vaccinations and dental and hoof care as well as a solid nutrition program that you can work out with your veterinarian. Best of luck.
- i have a 29 yo arab cross, and i had a 36 yo arab mare in good shape, but she was killed in an accident. i miss her. barring complications, and accidents, and cancer (greys often get melanomas. if your horse has one, look under tail, sheath, around neck and face, have the vet check him out and do a biopsy. my horse has about 3 small tumors, i havent had them checked, i am a little scared about the outcome. if they grow out of control) he should live a good long life, you should have a few more yrs with him at least. my horse is a fleabitten grey too. good luck. take care of your horse. remember, as he is old, it will take a little more time to do things than it would a younger horse. arabians are one of the most long lived horse breeds.
- idk. hopefully a long time because i have an arabian. well, i ride an arabian.
