What is the BEST kibble for 15 week old Boxer Puppies?
We have feeding our puppies Royal Canin for about a month. Were looking for a special made kibble just for boxer puppies. Fingers are crossed that it wont be as expensive. ;0)

- Iams Healthy Naturals. I work at Wal-Mart and have had time to look at all the ingredients of every dry and canned dog food we sell, and this is the one with the best ingredients. I use it, and my dogs love it. It also helped my mix breed with his allergies.
- Breed specific formulas are a gimmick. Many people also think puppy formulas are a gimmick. Your boxer puppies need a high quality food like any other puppy. Good quality brands: Innova Puppy Wellness Just for Puppy Orijen Puppy Merrick Puppy Plate Solid Gold Wolf Cub Canidae (ALS) Taste of the Wild (ALS) Nature's Variety Prairie or Instinct (ALS) Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's Soul ALS= all life stages A few of these brands may cost more than the Royal Canin (Orijen, Nature's Variety, Wellness) but most are about the same or less. Royal Canin is overpriced for the quality of the food.
- Breed specific food is just another marketing ploy with absolutely no basis in fact. The best thing that you could feed your dog is no kibble at all. These cooked and processed biscuits consist of meat by-products, preservatives (many of which are banned for human use) and fillers such as grains and root vegetables which have no place in the diet of a dog.
- Purina My family and I used that for over 13 years for our dogs and they're bodies, bones and teeth are as healthy as can be.
- I would look for hard dog food that has smaller pieces... the bigger pieces of food are for bigger dogs. You also want to check the ingredients before you buy the dog food. You want to find a brand of dog food that does not have corn as the first ingredient. You really want some type of meat to be the first ingredient as that means they use the most of that to make the dog food. Soft food isn't as good for dogs as hard food... it's also better for your dogs teeth if they are eating hard food. Your dog also might get bored of the same dog food all the time, so when he's finished one bag of something, try to find another brand with the same high quality ingredients. Sam's Club has a couple of good brands and it's about $30 for a 50lb bag. also if you're having trouble with your dog liking the food you got him, or he's just bored with the food, you can add some really hot water to the food and mix it in... just enough to make a little bit of a gravy with the dog food... our dogs love it! You don't want to add enough water where it's watery at the bottom... but just enough where it may soften some of the dog food a little. Hope this helps.
- Go Wellness Just For Puppies or Natures Variety. Pretty much anything you can buy at a grocery store is crappy food. Go to a feed store and get something with ingredients you know! I love the Natures Variety Raw diet, its pricey, but every ingredient is something I know and most I would eat
- Wellness! http://www.wellnesspetfood.com/
