What can I feed my 3 week old chihuahua puppies?
The mother has stopped feeding them, I don't know if it just hurts her, or maybe she has no milk left. I don't want the puppies to get sick from not eating. What can I do? I am keeping the puppies, they are not going of to shelters or anything like that, and its not like they dont eat at all. I just think they could eat a little more.

- You can ask your vet or your breeding mentor. And you need to do it quickly because these puppies need to eat every few hours.
- Get some puppy replacement powder/milk at Petco and a little puppy body and feed them.
- you can get puppy formula at vets, petshops.. and Ive even seen it at target and walmart. 3 weeks seems abit early to start weaning, but mother sometimes knows best.. moms will feed the pups less often as it comes time to feed solids. you can try offering mush and see what they do. Take a high quality puppy kibble, soak it in either warm water, or puppy formula, mash it up, then offer in a shallow dish. I would also have mom evaluated by the vet to be sure there is not a medical reason why she has stopped feeding.
- It is too early for her to stop feeding the puppies. Please have her examined by the vet to determine the problem.
- Call your breed mentor or vet. I have a real NOVEL idea, take them all to the vet's for a checkup. While you are there, make a spay appointment.
- You can get puppy milk replacer from a vet's office, pet store, shoot even most grocery stores carry it. Be sure to get the smallest bottles you can find (also at above-mentioned places). Warm the formula a bit & be sure to keep the pups warm, too- if mama won't keep 'em warm a hot water bottle works well. Also you'll have to help them potty if mama won't do that. Just take a warm cloth & gently wipe their privates- that should stimulate them to "go". They'll need to be fed every few hours. Gook luck!
- Go to the pet store and buy Ebsilac, it's milk for puppies in a can. You will have to bottle feed them right away and ask vets advice as well.
- I know backyard breeders like yourself don't have breeding mentors so call your vet for crying out loud. . With all the dogs being killed everyday in shelters because there isn't enough homes for them you are bringing in yet another ill-bred, unwanted, unneeded litter. UGH! Get your dog spayed after she's weaned her puppies ... if they live.
