What kind of exercise do boxer dogs need?

I'm going to be living in an apartment and I was wondering how long and what kind of things other people do when they take their boxers out. Walking? How far? Going to the dog park? Just in general...

  1. Boxers need a LOT of exercise. A good rule of thumb would be this, DAILY: Nice morning walk. Can be shortish, 10-15 mins Afternoon off leash RUN. Fetch, or running with you. 30-45mins Some training inside. Sit, stay, etc, etc, etc, 10-15 mins Evening walk. Same as the am. If you kept to this plan, and at least met it 5 days a week, you would see a very happy, well rounded boxer. If understimulated, boxers are one of the most destructive dogs I've seen.
  2. I used to have a boxer and he could run like the wind. I would suggest a long walk before going to the dog park so he'll be more settled down. They are lovely dogs.
  3. Some Boxers are more high energy then others- They won't require quite as much work to keep them happy! Boxers are very active and intelligent, if you don't keep them busy, they will find something to destroy to stay occupied. Take your Boxer for a good walk/run in the morning. after sleeping all night, he will be ready to burn off that breakfast! At lunch you could play fetch for half an hour, practicing sit, stay, fetch, drop. This keeps their mind active too. In the evening, take him out for another long walk. If you have an off leash area, that would be a great place to take him. Be sure he knows recall before doing any off leash work or you will be playing tag for the rest of the night. If you can find a club or group that does Rally, obedience or agility, that would be a good place to go for a work out for mind and body! Boxers are even getting championships in herding, so they can do anything-They just need a job ;)
  4.
