How do I find a list of local wild animals with pictures for Northern California?

I saw an animal one night I never saw before one night and have been trying to figure out what it is, but can not find a picture or what it is anywhere? In northern California

1. Try looking up the Department of Fish and Wildlife (sometimes called Dept. of Fish and Game) for California. Also try this: http://www.dfg.ca.gov/bdb/html/cawildlife.html. Good luck! If you post a question describing the animal someone might be able to ID it for you!
2. go to http://www.enature.com and you can put in your zip code and it will let you look up in a "field guide" which animals are found in your area.
