Cross Breeds

What breed of sled dog is this?

I spoke briefly with a man about his dog he was walking and forgot the breed. Here's what I remember, if you know of a breed that fit the following please share! Sled dog, often leads the pack because "it has the ability to sense open water when on ice" Medium sized dog - this female as 40-48 pounds, I would say no taller than 4 feet. "Has dotted pupils to prevent blindness from the reflection of light off the snow" "Doesn't bark" -I assume this is just something it doesn't do, but something it is capable of doing. This particular dog was full white with blue eyes (not albino). I mean full white, absolutely no other color. The hair was short, and not shaven. It reminded me of hair you'd see on a lab. He said something about Eskimos breeding them, and I thought he mentioned something about a wolf. I know it's NOT: A Siberian husky or Alaskan malamute It could very well have been a cross-breed. I wish I could remember what he said, she was such a beautiful dog! I actually didn't see the dog at any races. We were on vacation in St. Ignace, MI. Saw him walking her outside a grocery store.

  1. google sled dog breeds
  2. I'm not sure what kind of dog it is but, if you go to www.dogbreedinfo.com you might find it. They have info on lots of really rare dogs.
  3. Might be an Alaskan Husky. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/alaskanhusky.htm
  4. MANY sled dogs are cross-breeds, and are breed to improve performance, speed, agility, and endurance. Most dogs on the sled dog circuit are not purebreds, and cross-breeds are usually much hardier as well. They are worth a lot of money even if they are cross-breeds, if their parents were champions their value increases as well. It may be a cross-breed of some sort, or it may be an American Eskimo Dog (which isn't really likely, you don't tend to see many at the races.)
  5. Possibly a seppala siberian sleddog. Or maybe a canadian eskimo dog.
  6. my guess is an akita.
  7. 4 feet? What? No dog is that big.. The biggest dogs (not wolves) Are Great Danes and Irish Wolfhounds.. And they get maybe a little over 3 feet. noww. The dog you're talking about might be a Samoyed.. But the fur doesn't fit.. A Chinook? Except they're not white.. Uhm. I don't really know. xD
  8. a husky of some sort
