Why Do Male Sea Horses Carry The Baby's?
Public Comments
- Sea horses don't have genders. Female = Male for them.
- no idea.. maybe the males are more durable? anyways... its spelled babies... not baby's
- There ARE different seahorse genders. But, males have a pouch in their abdomen that females do not. The females lay their eggs into the male's pouch, and when they hatch, they swim out. So, I believe that the male seahorse carries the eggs of the female because the female does not have a pouch and/or the correct anatomy to carry the young. BTW, this is the user's brother. She probably couldn't answer this question.
