Quick question about Maine Coon cats?

I'm thinking about getting a Maine Coon cat, but I'd just like to know if they're okay being left alone for 4 maybe 8 hours. Also, I don't have any other pets.

1. Any cat is fine to be left alone for that long. They'll usually sleep most of the time anyway.
2. Yes, they will be ok, they are great pets. We have three cats and leave them alone for 8 hours a day during the week due to school and work.
3. 4 hours may be ok but definitely nowhere near 8 hours. they need LOTS of attention so a few hours is fine but don't push it. each cat is a little bit different so it depends on the personality of the one you choose, some don't mind a few hours alone but not more than a few.
4. Some cats would be fine with that, others might have a tough time. You may want to consider getting a pair of cats so they can keep each other company while you're gone during the day. The truth is that cats mostly just sleep when their owners aren't around, but if you have a more energetic, hyperactive kitty they might become destructive if left to their own devices for too long.
5. Its best to get two kittens if they are under 6 months old if they will be alone most of the day. Or adopt an older adult MC as a single cat. This goes for just about all cats - not breed specific.
6. Cats sleep about 18 horus a day, I'm sure yours could fit his sleep time in while you're gone.
