  1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maine_Coons I have a maine coon. He is loveable and huge! Maine coons tend to be really big and muscular. That site will have a lot of nice info for you:)
  2. Maine Coons are one of the largest breeds of purebred cats. They take about three or four years to mature fully. Toms can top out at about 18 lbs, queens about 13. People often confuse their domestic longhaired cats for Maine Coons. Vets and shelters will often label any old large, domestic longhaired cat a "Maine Coon" or "Maine Coon mix." But Maine Coons are relatively rare in comparison to the rest of the cats in the world, most of which are of no breed in particular. So, unless a cat has papers with a registry claiming he is a Maine Coon, or has a pedigree stating that his parents were Maine Coons, he probably isn't one! One myth about Maine Coons is that you can tell their breed because they have an "M" on their forehead.. which simply is not true. All tabby cats have this marking- it is not exclusive of the Maine Coon cat.
