What would be a good sized pasture for two miniature horses?

We can offer them about 1/2 of an acre. (By the way we live in Washington) Do you know if there is some required amount of space needed for two minis, in Washington?

  1. All of my minis have their own stalls in the barns. Everyone is feed 1 cup pelleted feed twice a day in their stalls and is given 1/4 flake of hay a day. My minis are turned out for about 1 to 1 1/2 hour a day. My only problem is them putting on too much weight. I normally put 4 mares out on one acre at a time. I don't know if Washington has some "horse per acre" requirements. I live in Florida and just watch the health of my horses and the condition of my pastures.
  2. before i even saw your added info, i thought a minimum of 1/2 acre. hopefully, that area will be in close proximity to y'all, because from what i gather, these little creatures are very social; with people & other critters. over many years of observation, i've also noticed that horses of all sizes really enjoy goats as companions. if you decide to add to your brood, maybe you could get pygmy goats. how cute would that be?
