Are there more wild horses on Assateague Island or Chincoteague Island?

I know the horses just made their swim to Chincoteague Island, but I was wondering if I would have better luck seeing the horses on Assateague Island or Chincoteague Island?

1. I think the wild ponies actually live on Assateague Island and once a year they are rounded up and made to swim across to Chincoteague (From what i remember from many years ago). The wild ponies are roaming on Assateague, not Chincoteague, unless you happen to visit during the annual round-up.
