Are oldenglish sheepdogs a good family breed?
Okay so i live in san antonio texas with my wife and 11 year old daughter. We have 4 dogs at the moment. A female pug, a male chihuahua, a male pitbull, and a male lab. and 2 male cats that hang around the house. The male pitbull is very old (over 10 years) he already lost his eyesight and i am sure he is going to pass soon. So me and my wife are looking at big dog breeds and my daughter has always wanted a long furr dog and she showed me this picture http://www.dkimages.com/discover/previews/738/20022563.JPG is this a good breed for our family? The grooming is fine, and my brother is professional dog trainer. but will it be able to get along with my famiy and 3 other dogs?(2 small ones). and 2 cats?

- Check around here: http://www.oldenglishsheepdogclubofamerica.org/ I'm a big fan of Old English Sheepdogs, but sadly have never owned one. That site will be a big help though, it should give you plenty of info, breeder referrals, rescue, people to contact, etc.
- I am not familiar with this breed, but her is a yahoo group on them: http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/OldEnglish-SheepDogs/?v=1&t=directory&ch=web&pub=groups&sec=dir&slk=6 They would prob will more then willing to share their view on the breed. :)
- A friend of mine has 2 Old English Sheepdogs. One is very sweet and very good with kids. The other is a little more temperamental. Check out this website, it gives a good description of the breed: http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/oldenglishsheepdog.htm
