Why do girls like to ride horse or horseback riding?

Almost every time I ask girls what their hobbies are, they always say horseback riding.

1. ok lol I love horse back riding!! I'm very athletic and horse back riding is just really fun and relaxing. I love horses so when i ride I feel the wind in my face and the bumpy feeling of my bouncing up and down. My family owns a ranch and I have my own horse that I love to take out and ride. I do it for fun and I compete in tournaments. You're talking to a champ here lol :)
2. Most girls are naturally care givers. Animals give them an outlet when they get over that doll stuff. It is wonderful exercise. and a horse never breaks up with them. LOL. All from my girl friend.
3. It's definitely a part of our culture for girls to like horses. From a young age, girls are surrounded with pictures of horses in flowery fields and images of knights riding on their faithful steeds. It's very similar to the concept that boys are supposed to like cars, dump trucks, and super heroes. A horse can definitely be therapeutic. I become anxious when I go more than a few days without riding, and for many of us it becomes a passion and an obsession. Riding is very much a skill sport, and it's one in which you never know it all. There's always more to learn and each horse will teach you something different. So in that respect it is very exciting and challenging. A lot of the showing culture is catered to girls as well. Riding clothes can run from walmart-cheap prices to more expensive than designer jeans. Riding clothes go through fashion trends just like regular women's clothing, except you can also buy things for your horse. A horse will also never break up with you, is going to be the same personality every day, and he won't bicker with you or spread rumors like people will. Also remember that just because someone says they like a certain activity doesn't mean they actively participate in it. At the barn I work at, we have a girl who brags about her riding abilities all the time, but she hasn't even been to the barn to see her horse in months. It depends on the girl.
