Animal rights activists: would you choose the lives of 100 endangered animals over your own child?

I'd like to know why you animal rights activists insist on making animals out to be the equivalents. I'm not saying all of you do this, but the more radical among you do. I firmly believe that as the dominant species we have an obligation and responsibility to protect, preserve, and respect our fellow living beings. But an entire lesser species would never equate to a single human life. So... really, which would you choose: the lives of 100 animals or that of your own child's?

  1. I would choose my child of course, but I can see how someone without their own kids or who has extremely strong beliefs might chose 100 animals to save instead.
  2. Of course they wouldn't...most of them are searching for a way to justify their own existence, so they take up a cause and become passionate about it...animal testing is 'terrible', but I've never heard one animal rights activist complain when the doctor knew the correct medication to give them or a family member as a result of animal testing...common sense, protect species if you can, but don't be loopy about it
  3. Pretty stupid question. I don't think anyone would give up anything for the life of their child.
  4. I think it's arrogant to say that humans are the zenith, the most paramount, best, most wonderful thing on planet Earth. Really? Us? Because that makes me kind of sad. I think we could be doing/striving for so much more. Animals are to be respected and loved in my culture, not looked down upon from on high as you seem to do. AND since I have no children, if I had to choose between your life and 100 animals', endangered or no, I'm going to have to go with the animals~ ;)
  5. Maybe it's just the way i'm readin this, but you seem very against animal rights. See, i believe in animal liberation. Just because man has dominion over animal, does that mean we are free to hoist them upside down by broken legs and slit there throats? Does that mean we could literally molest an animal and it be okay? I think people should treat everyone equally. In America the pledge of allegiance states, "justice and liberty for all" ALL beings. Animals are living. So, if you wear a fox around your neck, do you think that animal lived a life of justice? and liberty? And, never have i heard of an animal rights activist choosing the lives of animals over there own baby! Where do you get this stuff?! You say " firmly believe that as the dominant species we have an obligation and responsibility to protect, preserve, and respect our fellow living beings" Protecting and Preserving our fellow beings. Very good to live by. But i do not think you are vegan, or vegetarian, so you are going against your own belief. You see, slaughter houses produce the most environmental threat to the world. And leather tanning produces tons of toxic waste a year. TONS. which is dumoed itno our sewers and oceans. And that harms our fish, and gives them a disease...and we eat fish. So, we are not preserving or pretecting....we are hurting and destroying. Man might have dominion, but just as it could be easy for any one to claim dominion over a being with a mental disability, we do not harm them. This offended me, and you are proposing ideas that are false, and not in the least...true.
