What are ways to keep dogs and cats green friendly to the environment?

- don't serve them food that'll make em gassy
- That's easy. Where would they poop and pee if wild in nature? Let them poop and pee outside anywhere they have the urge. All natural to the environs.
- Numbers one through one hundred -- SPAY and NEUTER!
- Make sure you clean after your pets. try to purchase organic food for your pets. it is kinda expensive, but better for the environment.
- Buy organic and ethical pet food...so no cheap and nasty scraped off the slaughter house floor stuff :S Clean up after your pet either with a shovel in the garden, or if you are walking use bio-degradable poop bags (and take them to a bin!! DON'T leave them on a tree!! ewww!) or if you are on a loooong trek flick into the undergrowth away from the paths (our local forestry commission recommends that). This looks interesting and could offer more hints http://planetgreen.discovery.com/go-green/green-pets/green-pets-basics.html When you buy toys and bedding for your pet try and buy as close to home as possible..no made in china stuff! And if you have a dog..walk!!
- I don't buy processed animal food. I recycle my leftovers. My animals love it.
- The following products may be harder to find and a bit more expensive, but when it comes to the environment, it is defiantly worth it. **They can probably be found at most major per stores 1) Buy organic pet food 2) Buy biodegradable bags to pick up 3) Buy organic shampoos/medicines/other care products 4) Buy Recyclable post-consumer toys (may be harder to find) 5) Buy any product in bulk (less packaging) and preferably in recycled and/or organic materials
- Spay and Neuter.
