Why are some cross breeds acceptable, lobradoodles, and others seen as mutts and outrageous ?

- They're all mutts.
- Because some were planned, like labradoodles, others were not, like my dog, a very lovable black lab/collie mutt.
- Acceptable as what?? Labradoodles ARE mutts.
- I have a labradoodle, and she is the best dog I ever had. She's so soft, fairly calm, and is a genius dog. Sometimes I think she's telepathic. And no, I would never spend an outrageous amount on a "labradoodle" or "maltipoo", etc. But she is amazing!! Also, it's "ACCEPTABLE" not exeptable, and "LABRADOODLE" not lobradoodle.
- all dogs are acceptable just some aren't planned and some are like my labradoodle was planned and my Nana's cockapoo but my friends collie * terrier wasn't.
- I don't know who told you ANY mixed breed is acceptable.......They are all MUTTs and other than used as pets......useless. Don't get me wrong I've had them myself and some were wonderful dogs. I have nothing against the dog, just the moron that made them.
- they're all ridiculous. there's no reason to make more mutts- there's enough in shelters. let's return to this discussion when our shelters have run out of mutts, and people are clamoring for dogs.... shall we?
- I think the only unacceptable part is that people cross two different breeds and then try to sell them for a high price. All doodles including labradoodles are the same. Because they are just a cross breed no one can predict how the puppies will come out.
- Any mutt not bred for a working purpose is equally pointless. There is no difference between a "Labradoodle" and any random bred dog found in a shelter. In fact, the "Labradoodle" is *less* acceptable, because it was bred simply to make someone money at the expense of the mutts already sitting in shelters.
- they are known as "designer" dogs. They are for the people who don't want to walk a pug & beagle mix down the street but are happy to walk a "puggle". It's sad. They are "acceptable" because someone slapped a cute name on them along with their $1100 price tag.
- "Designer Dogs" such as labradoodles, chi-weenies (yes, I've seen them), pug-a-poos, etc. are not recognized by the AKC. They are just mutts with a fancy name. They are almost always "created" by puppy mills & BYB's and they're often sold in pet stores. There is no difference (except price) between them and any of the mutts at the pound or the Humane Society. It's the result of irresponsible breeding.
- Because people are shallow or I should say society is. They only like what is supossed to look good in their minds. That is why you have the AKC, standards for dogs so they can look like they are supossed to according to someone's opinion, Which in the long run limits their gene pool and enduces disease and genetic disorders. All dogs should be acceptable in a decent world. Also on the people commenting on working ability when you have generations of show dogs these so called purebreds loose their working ability and their features are largely exagerated for the show ring. Google the old english bull terrier and see if it looks anything like the one you see in the show ring now. The question is not whether these mutts can perform and work like these systematic purebreds, the question is can these show dogs perform like they were supossed to when they were created? Look at the American Pitbull Terrier and see how it changed from being a working terrier to a large bulky show dog represented in the American Staffordshire Terrier. Mutts are healthier than purebreds period.
- The dogs today are all the product of mixing breeds. The people breeding designer dogs are really doing nothing more than what was done before. But the difference is they are not breeding to improve the breed or to make a better breed. And they charge an outrageous fee ($1,200 or more for a labradoodle), for a mixed breed dog. Some of the people that buy these dogs consider them to be pure breed because the parents were pure. Which is not the case. The other problem with designer dogs is the breeders can't guarantee the pups will all have the same characteristics and therefore can't write a standard (description of the ideal dog for that breed) for the designer dog.
- to me a all mixed is acceptable.
- None of them are acceptable to anyone with a brain who understand there is no difference between the mutts from a bad breeder and the ones from a shelter. They are ALL mutts, and should not be purposely bred and sure as heck should not be sold for anything more than an adoption fee.
- who said it was acceptable to breed "labradoodles"? None of them are acceptable.. they are ALL outrageous mutts.
