Cross Breeds

I think my puppy may be pregnant, what should I do?

Sometimes during the day we let our dog play outside on her runner when it's warm out. The neighbors have a little chihuahua and our dog went into heat for the first time a few weeks ago. Lately her "boobs" have been getting bigger and she pees a lot when she gets really excited. I know a lot of dogs pee like that, but she never did it until just lately, after she went into heat. I didn't even know the neighbors had a dog until a few days ago, but now I'm worried she's pregnant. Also, I feel kind of bad because I feel like we put her out to play and the other dog just came over and took advantage of her. She's just barely a year, so she's really young. And she only weighs about 5-6 pounds and I don't want to put her through a pregnancy. She's little and kind of a baby when it comes to certain things. What should I do? I don't know if there's abortions for these kinds of things? And I wondered what the early signs of a dog pregnancy are? And I forgot to say she's a yorkie poo, so I don't know how cute the dogs will turn out. And we can't keep any of them!

  1. Call your vet on monday and make an appointment to have her spayed. This will abort the litter and prevent any more accidents.
  2. She is way to young for a litter! They should be AT LEAST a year and a half. She's definitely pregnant. Yes there are abortions for dogs, so get one if you feel it's unnecessary. Well it's your fault because you.. 1) Didn't spay her, spay her A.S.A.P I'm not kidding.. 2) Didn't watch her, and make sure she didn't get pregnant. It is your fault, so basically you should feel bad! She IS really young, talk to the vet about it!! She may not be able to handle having a litter also. Some dogs do ...leave us... when they are giving birth, especially small ones (chihuahuas and such) because they are too small to handle it. Please, GET HER SPAYED!
  3. Take her to the vet. They can spay her even if she is pregnant. This is the best option since she is so small - then you wont have to worry about it ever again. Good luck!
  4. Call your vet and get her spayed. Doing so will abort any puppies that might be there. And as for her boobs getting bigger.... shes probably just gained some weight because it takes about 45 days for their boobs to swell.
  5. Yes your vet can and should abort the pregnancy (if there is one). Call them tomorrow and schedule one as soon as you can. You're right, it is always dangerous for a dog to have babies, and even more so for a small mixed breed who isn't even full grown.
  6. Make an appt with a vet on Monday for a spay procedure, if she is pregnant it may cost a little bit more but she is way to young to be having puppies in the first place. She is small in size and complications are a possibly if you let her carry till term if she is pregnant. So for her health, schedule a spay.
  7. a girl stays in heat 21 days, call up your Vet and make appointment to have her spayed no puppies no worries, you will have a 3 mix puppies, they are Mutts, don't bring any more into the world having her spayed takes care of if she is pregnant she is way to young
  8. You have a MUTT that should have been spayed before her first heat cycle. You need to get her spayed NOW before she's to far into her pregnancy. It's your responsibility to watch your dog. It's not your neighbors fault that you left your INTACT female outside unattended. You don't have a breed so you don't need to let her have pups. Even if you did have an actual breed you wouldn't have a champion, with champion lines, health certs, guarantee, whelping pen, emergency vet, medical kit, or homes for the pups. SPAY ASAP
