- there isnt an easy trained dog, each dog needs some effort to train them,as each one of them is different . yes theyr fun to play with and they enjoy the company as any other dog . quite? not all of them, depends on the dog .
- My Shih Tzu was good when it came to training. Luke turned out to be highly intelligient He got used to the different commands but sometimes wanted to play instead of listening. He is now almost 5 years old. He knows the different names of his toys. All I have to do is ask him to get one by name and he goes and gets it and brings it back. He is also quite playful, loyal, affectionate. He loves company esp. children. He has no fear. He has never been angry or aggressive. Once housebroken, he always let me know when he had to go to the bathroom. I walk him twice a day, but is content in the house when the weather isn't the best. When he is ready he will let you know. Also, he does not shed. I would highly recommend a Shih Tzu.
- All puppies are fun, and most puppies are sociable and enjoy company. Shih tzus are supposed to be quite playful. Very few puppies are aggressive. You'll have to socialise the dog very well to make sure they stay that way. There are a few aggressive animals in every breed, but most of the time good training can avoid this. Shih tzus are generally friendly with dogs and people. Shih tzus are supposed to be difficult to housebreak, they need a lot of grooming, and they can be badly-behaved if they're not trained (all dogs will be badly-behaved if not trained but people often don't train small dogs). They can also be quite stubborn. They're supposed to be good for novice owners, but not as easy to train as many other dog breeds. The thing is that a lot of the dog breeds which are fast learners (collies, australian cattle dogs etc) need a lot of training to keep them busy. Breed doesn't decide whether a dog is well behaved, training does. No dog is naturally well-behaved, it takes time and work.
- 1. They are most definitely fun, but not all are easy to train. They are very smart and will test the limits! Set the ground rules from the start, positive reinforcement training and you will have a fun loving pet. 2. They love company and companionship. They are most definitely "lap dogs" and will cuddle and lick you (if permitted). 3. They are not normally aggressive or angry dogs. They are usually pretty laid back and quiet. Sometimes downright lazy!! Since they are small dogs, they may show some aggression towards larger dogs, but nothing major or unfixable. If, as I said earlier they are properly trained, you will have no problems. Rewards, treats and positive reinforcement work the best with these little guys. If by "axidents" you mean accidents, or potty problems, again, as I already stated, they can be a bit stubburn in that department. Consistancy and using a schedule to take them out for a walk or to go potty is paramount in their training. Although not a training method, there are little pants or belly bands you can use to aid you in potty training. They don't prevent them or teach them, but they do protect your belongings and carpets from accidents. And if you have a potty accident, you will need to clean it thoroughly with a pet cleaner. I use Nature's Miracle-Nezyme formula, but there are others out there you can buy. The key is to get their scent out completely so they don't smell it and think it is all right to continue to go in the same area. I have 2 wonderful Tzu's. One was easy to train, the other had a few minor problems. But once she got it...she got it and not a problem since.
- Shih Tzus are difficult to housebreak. Be consistent, and do not allow a puppy to roam the house unsupervised until he is completely trained. Crate training is helpful. He is happiest when he is with his family, giving and receiving attention. Here's more info: http://dogtime.com/shih-tzu.html
- they are great fun. i find mine easy to h ousetrain but not so good to train to roll over etc. They love company they are very dependent and loving. Choose a quiet but alert pup and you will have a better chance that he wont be aggresive. i have 2 bought up exactly the same. one who was the pick of the litter is very protective and afraid of nothing - which can lead to problems - it is the one trait I wish i could change about him. the second dog was very quiet and placid and he still is. but i love them both - you are in for a treat but lots of work too - good luck
- I have 2 Shihtzu dogs and love them They were easy to train. Fun loving and care about their owners. Very well behaved never aggressive to anyone or another dog
- All puppies are fun to play with and enjoy people. Shih tzu are more time consuming to potty train. They need to see what's in it for them, not you. After puppy potties outside immediately praise and give a small treat. They really need to see there is something in it for them. Mine is 15 and he wasn't fully trained until about 18 months. Never shout or yell at a shih tzu as they learn mis-trust very young and also do the shih tzu freeze where they won't move as they are terrorized and this breaks down any trust and wipes out most progress made in pottty training. A crate is essential as well as a dedicated owner with very many potty trips each day. This toy breed puppy isn't any different than any other toy breed puppy in that very frequent trips outside are needed due to small bladder size and lack of contol over bowels, just as a human infant cannot control bowel. Be patient, patient, patient, very consistent, reward after the poo or pee and you are off to a good start. Never punish any accident and remember 2 hours is the max between potties for under 4 months of age and then you can increase to 4 hours. Use common sense as in you don't give them supper right before bed or allow them to drink a gallon of water. Seek help from responsible shih tzu owners near you. Join the National Shih Tzu Society or at least buy some of their journals on potty training as well a obedience training. Good Luck.
- they are not easy to train, they are fun to play with and they love being with people, they sometimes can bite when they are young when they are playing but you have to train them to stop this behavior
- Shih tzus are fairly placid dogs. They are easy to train because they like to please. They will love having company and make good lap dogs. They are definately not agressive, although all little puppies nip! It depends on how playful you want them to be. They won't play for hours on end, but a good bit of tug-a-war every now and then should do the trick.
- I just saw a show on Animal Planet this morning (Dogs 101) and they said that Shih Tzu's are one of the most difficult dogs to train. So if you need a dog that is easier to train you need to start looking at other breeds.
- 1. They can be fun, if you train them, if you want it to be easy, don't get a dog... it's not worth it then. If u don't want to work hard to train your dog, don't bother even getting one 2. The a Fun to play cause they are cute ( have to admit that lol) They LOVE attention.... my Shih Tzu begs for attention 3. well behaved... once again if u train them right from wrong. they aren't that aggressive, just the normal baby teething, but expect some accidents in the years.... If u do decide u r up to the challenge, take time to look at local adoptions first... then if u can't, go to a breeder--- plz don't buy one in a pet store!!!
