At what age do male puppies (small breed) have viable sperm?
I have a 7 month old peek-a-poo male that I know tagged a female who was in heat. This was over 9 weeks ago. So far no puppies (keeping fingers crossed). Has anybody had any experience with this breed and/or problem?

- It;s not the breed it's the male hormones taht he wants to mate..Get him Neutered as this will happen again and again. He will develop cancer at a very young age.He will start marking his territory in the house he will most likely run away and be aggressive as he wants to get to a female dog.He will also bite someone as they get frustrated..Set up an appt
- Dogs normally become sexually mature at around 6 months of age. So if your dog is 7 months now and it happened 9 weeks ago, then he would have been incapable of impregnating the b*tch, his humping will have been due to dominance, not sexual.
- Most dogs are sexually mature by the age of five or six months. http://lnk.nu/dogtime.com/ser.html
- first of all a peek a poo as you call it is not a breed it is a mutt or a poodle mix. and it isn't tagged it is tied when mating. and as for a 5 month male making a female pregnant it is possible but not probable, get dogs spayed and neutered and you wont have a problem. if it has been 9 weeks and no signs of puppies yet chances are he wasn't old enough to impregnate her.
- it take the male dog abt 1 year old and above. too young not good. and when they do it. sometimes it takes time. dog sperm actually will travel in the female dog and waited there till the female is ready. wat i mean by ready is just like human when the egg is ready to be fertilise. female dog just like yhuman they have their monthly period. so the process is almost the same as human... good luck.
- Anytime after 7 months. Most likely around 8-9 months. U lucked out this time. Get him fixed ASAP Her too!
- Firstly, small dogs have a higher viable sperm count that bigger dogs, and i have heard of 4 month old dogs impregnating and siring pups. As a general rule, in my house anything over 3 months is at risk, just a precaution. it is highly possibly, that he tied and could even have sired pups, but because you have essentially a mutt (although i understand how much you would love him) there is no need for him to reproduce, and it is save to have him desexed. I also know of 5 month old dogs who have sired a litter, the youngest i ever heard of was 4 months, to the breeders horrifying disgust. The *breed* itself can have any and all problems from both the pekenese and poodle side, so therefore luxating patella, hips dysplacia, heart deffects, problems breathing, elbow dysplacia, collapsed trachea and legge perthes, not to mention spinal problems, unmanageable coat, tempermental problems..... anything. hybrid vigour is a myth, 2 sick dogs do not make a healthy dog, such as if you breed 2 black dogs, you wont end up with a litter of white dogs..
